Tell decision makers what you really think
Do you feel like the people in charge don’t really care about what you think? Or that the problems your community face aren’t really talked about? Find Your Power will help you to learn how to get the attention of those in charge and tell them the changes you want them to make.
Find Your Power has regular weekly evening sessions in the lead up to school and college holidays. It runs part-time over six weeks, and at the end of the programme, you will have created a digital campaign on a topic that is really important to you.
During the programme, you will:
- Explore issues that are important to you, your friends, family and the wider community
- Work with a team to launch a digital campaign and make a film or podcast on issues you care about
- Challenge yourself to learn new skills that will benefit your future study and/or work
- Boost your confidence and make new friends
We show you where to start, how to form a strong team and learn how to make a video or audio campaign to raise awareness about an issue you care about. This programme puts you in control! Whatever issue matters to you, you get to talk about. It could be living wage, homelessness, mental health, your local green space, your education - whatever it is that you're passionate about!
You're not on your own though. Your local UpRising team and some of our expert friends will help you every step of the way. We then introduce you to the people in your local area who can support your campaigns and help you develop your skills.
Even better than that? After you finish Find Your Power, we think that you'd be a fantastic addition to our Leadership or Environmental Leadership Programme, so we'll offer you a place, without even having to apply!
Am I the right fit for this programme?
Worried that you want to make a difference, but you don't fit the bill or think that you're not experienced enough? Well, as long as you are 16 to 18, this is the programme for you! We're not looking for the most knowledgeable people, the most experienced activists or Grade A students - we'll support and guide you every step of the way!
Cool, how do I join?
