Haleema Ali

Haleema Ali previously did the UpRising Leadership programme in 2016/17, with a social action campaign based around arts and culture. Since then, she has curated exhibitions and workshops to inspire social change, on topics such as knife crime and human rights, which were featured on BBC News.

She is an activist and holds many board positions, including being the Vice Chair of the Bedfordshire Police Scrutiny Panel, ensuring stop and searches are conducted fairly. She has worked in the youth sector as a teacher, mentor and facilitator, at a pupil referral unit, the Prince's Trust and in her local college. She is now the Bedfordshire Programme Coordinator.

Haleema is looking forward to seeing local young talent this year in the Bedfordshire UpRising programmes! She can't wait to hear what the social action campaign ideas will be - it's exciting to see innovative ideas come to fruition. It's also her first year as a programme coordinator - previously she did the programme myself, so it will be good to get a different perspective!
