What is your motivation for working at UpRising?

I love working with young people and I'm passionate about social justice and equality. I studied politics and I think political participation, whether that's through working in government, voting, starting a grassroots movement or any other kind of engagement, is really important, so I'm glad to work for an organisation that encourages young people to use their voices and their talents to positively influence the world around them.

What were you doing before you worked at UpRising?

I studied a BA in European Studies in London, before a brief stint working in the head offices of Lidl UK. I then travelled abroad in New Zealand and Australia before starting an MSc in International Relations in Bristol in 2016. Since finishing my masters, I have worked for the Social Mobility Foundation, the European Parliament and, most recently, the Cambodian environmental education NGO Fauna in Focus. I'm also a freelance translator, translating from German into English!

What is one piece of advice you would give your 18 year old self?

Trust your gut - it's pretty much always right!
