In June 2020, we launched a completely new version of our employability programme, Fastlaners. The Covid-19 crisis will have a huge impact on young people and, without intervention, social mobility may be lost for a generation. We won't let that happen.
Our updated Fastlaners programme is our response to this impending crisis - a programme that helps underrepresented young people develop their employability skills through interactive workshops, sessions and seminars by experts, professionals and mentors.
The first iteration of this four week, online programme ran from 22nd June to 17th July. We were very lucky to have the support of some amazing mentors, employers and speakers lined up who supported the UpRisers on their journey to employment and kick start their careers.
This year, for the very first time, we also delivered a Fastlaners graduation ceremony. The ceremony was an online session, with wonderful contributions from alumni, staff, participants and many more. Special thanks go to our keynote speaker Kian Bakhtiari for his inspiring words, which you can listen to below.
We very much enjoyed working with a group of extremely talented, motivated young people over June and July and we're very much looking forward to meeting the next group of Fastlaners when the programme starts again in October!
