Sami Haque

Sami is 23 years old and studying a joint honours BA in Politics and Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies. He also volunteers for an international charity which helps alleviate suffering, deprivation and poverty in a conflict zone. He is a student ambassador for his university and encourages people from diverse demographics to pursue higher education in order to improve their prospects.

He aspires to become a corporate lawyer and work for a firm with international secondment opportunities. He is also an ardent supporter of civil liberties and human rights and would like to get involved in journalism in the future.

Sami is inspired by many historical personalities, all of whom overcame immense challenges and what appeared to be insurmountable odds through selfless tenacity for the greater good. He believes this admirable characteristic trait to be epitomised in the life of the Prophet Muhammad, may God's peace and blessings be upon him, and about whom the famous Christian polymath Michael H. Heart referred to as being the most influential personality in all of history.

Cycle is the name of his project and it aims to liaise with major contributors and organisers of the 2012 London Olympics to educate people on environmental issues and responsibility and healthy and productive lifestyles. They intend to do this through the use of bicycles and counter pollution, obesity, inefficiency due to congestion and unnecessary expenditure on travel.
