Rita Rodrigues

Rita is 22 years old, and a student at London South Bank University. She is Studying Media and Cultural Studies and is in her final year.

She is really interested in Media and Cultural Studies because she always likes to know what is going on around the world in the news and also likes to watch international news that is European and African such as news from Angola, Portugal and Brazil, as her first language is Portuguese. Furthermore, Media is very important in society and without the Media we won’t receive any information about the world.

Her SAC is to improve and find jobs for young people on jobseekers allowance who are out of work. UpRising has made her understand that to be a leader requires a lot of hard work and aspiration, and to be good at supporting and communicating with people. They are some skills that she was not aware of and now realises how important they are.

Rita's inspiration is her faith, family and friends who always encourage her to be strong and to do well in her career and life.
