Hasina Khatun

Hasina is 20 years old and  currently in her third year studying politics at university. She was born and raised in East London, Bow. This may come across to some as a disadvantage but she feels it has inspired her to reach out and take advantage of all opportunities.

Hasina has always had an interest in making change and bettering the social needs of her local area. This led to her getting involved in politics as she believes change can happen through politics. She has had experience and insights on the role of MPs after a summer of working for her local MP Jim Fitzpatrick. She has also pushed herself to get an internship with the London Assembly which was also a great insight to what the GLA do. She is also part of a youth organisation called Leaders in Community which she is on the board of.

Her social action campaign is based on aspiration, which is a programme designed to tackle the ever increasing problem of low aspirations which tends to be more significant in low deprivation and deprived areas. Plant The Seed is determined to make a substantial and sustained difference to the aspiration levels of the future generational and aim to do this by targeting first time parents and influencing the types of aspirations they instil in their children. Plant The Seed wants to see each generation surpassing the previous due to their increased aspirations.
