ALAC (Against Legal Aid Cuts)

Six UpRisers set up ALAC (Against Legal Aid Cuts) to raise awareness of the effects of these cuts on the city of Birmingham. Depending on the Government’s decisions following the consultation period, we will also campaign for an alternative funding structure to address the lack of representation as a consequence of these cuts.

We believe Birmingham’s residents will be affected disproportionately by these legal aid cuts, and should be made aware of the implications of lack of representation in the areas of (for example) employment tribunals, claims for welfare benefits, and debt.
