Sidra Mahboob

I’m 22 years old and currently studying full time for my Masters degree in Marketing and Business Management. I also work on a part time casual basis alongside my studies as an interviewer for a market research company. I also try to volunteer within the community and this gives me the opportunity to do something positive for my neighbourhood and meet people from different backgrounds.

My long term career plan is to become a marketing consultant. My shorter term career plans are to study further to achieve an MBA or study for a doctorate in the business studies field. My career goals are to design a career around a personal passion and develop the necessary skills which will aid and enhance my future through various opportunities.

Our social action campaign is to increase the awareness of the options available for students over 16 years of age. Our pilot study is aimed at creating a website and blog listing the options available locally for students such as apprenticeships, work and further education in the Bedford area. Furthermore, we will be creating career cards to help students, who have not quite made their expected grades, choose the next best career for them, this is mainly aimed at students who are about to go to university.

The people who inspire me are not so much those who are famous or well known, but instead those who go out of their way to help others. They try their utmost to bring positive change to their community no matter how small it may seem. They are inspiring role models to the rest of society, who genuinely are concerned for people and care about their community.
